The industry is facing a shortage of skilled drivers in the United States and in all categories, there are no exceptions. 1. Labor Supply: Between 2010 and 2024, our industry has exploded and demand increases every day. In addition, fewer people are available in the workforce, and even fewer know about the rewarding opportunities offered in an independent driving career. This makes finding a rewarding career as an independent route driver only “making the right connection” away from your future success. IRDAA is your connection.
2. Changing Workforce: The people who make up our industry and their careers didn’t exist in past generations. This provides immediate top of industry opportunities for not only younger people but experienced people seeking career advancement, entrepreneurial, or independent lifestyle.

In response to the constant industry shortage, IRDAA has launched the “Driving to Succeed” program. This initiative tells the story of why someone would want to be an independent route driver. This program is focused on three key messages from our industry: 

1. Independent Route Drivers can “make good money”.
2. Independent Route Drivers can “control their work-life experience”.
3. Independent Route Drivers can “design their career.”

Today Driving to Succeed can provide one on one guidance between potential drivers and IRDAA staff members.  In 2025 the program will expand with an array of video education.
